1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy describes how PC News, s. r. o. ("we", "us", "our") handles information in connection with the mobile application My Snack Tracker (the "App"), available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
PC News, s. r. o. is a company registered in Bratislava, Slovakia, and acts as the data controller for personal data processed in connection with the App, within the meaning of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. Information we process
My Snack Tracker is designed to be privacy-friendly. We do not require you to create an account, and the content you log in the App (your snacks, meals, settings) stays on your device. However, certain limited data is processed by third-party services we use to operate the App, as described below.
2.1 Data stored on your device
The following information is stored locally in the App and is not transmitted to our servers:
- Snack and meal entries (food name, quantity, calories, time)
- Custom snacks you create
- App preferences (language, color theme, calorie limits, units)
- Habit and streak data calculated from your log
You can delete this data at any time by removing entries in the App or by uninstalling the App.
2.2 Data processed by third-party services
| Service | Purpose | Data processed |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob (free version only) |
Displaying ads | Advertising ID, IP address, approximate location, device information, ad interactions |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash reporting and stability | Anonymous device identifier, OS version, device model, crash stack traces |
| Firebase Analytics | Aggregated usage statistics | Anonymous app events, session length, screen views, country, device type |
| RevenueCat (when you make a purchase) |
Managing in-app purchases and Pro entitlements | Anonymous app user ID, purchase receipts, subscription/entitlement status |
| Google Drive (only if you enable backup) |
Backing up and restoring your snack log and settings to your own Drive | Backup file containing your snack entries and app settings, stored in your personal Google Drive |
| Google Play / Apple App Store | Processing payments for the Pro version | Handled directly by the platform under its own privacy policy |
These services act as independent or joint controllers/processors of the data they collect. Their own privacy policies apply:
- Google AdMob & Firebase: policies.google.com/privacy
- RevenueCat: revenuecat.com/privacy
- Apple App Store: apple.com/legal/privacy
3. How we use this data
We process the data described above for the following purposes:
- To provide the App's functionality — storing your snack log and settings on your device.
- To finance the free version through ads — Google AdMob displays ads in the Today and Overview screens of the free version.
- To keep the App stable — Firebase Crashlytics reports crashes so we can fix them.
- To understand how the App is used — Firebase Analytics provides aggregated, anonymous usage statistics.
- To process Pro purchases — RevenueCat verifies your purchase with Google Play or the App Store and unlocks Pro features.
The legal bases under GDPR for processing this data are: performance of a contract (delivering the App and Pro features), our legitimate interest (stability, fraud prevention, basic analytics), and your consent (for personalized advertising, where applicable).
4. Advertising and consent
The free version of My Snack Tracker shows ads served by Google AdMob. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, you will be presented with a Google-certified consent dialog (CMP) on first launch and again whenever you change relevant settings. You can choose between:
- Personalized ads — based on your advertising ID and ad-related signals;
- Non-personalized ads — contextual ads only.
You can change this choice at any time in the App's settings, and you can also reset or delete your advertising ID directly in your device's system settings (Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads; iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking).
The Pro version of My Snack Tracker does not display ads.
5. Google Drive backup (optional)
My Snack Tracker offers an optional feature that lets you back up your snack log and app settings to your personal Google Drive, and restore them later (for example after reinstalling the App or moving to a new device). This feature is off by default and is only activated when you explicitly sign in with your Google account and enable backup in the App's settings.
How it works
- When you enable backup, the App asks you to sign in with your Google account and grant access to a dedicated, app-specific folder in your Google Drive (the Application Data folder, also known as the
drive.appdatascope). - The App writes a single backup file containing your snack entries, custom snacks, and settings to that folder.
- The backup file is stored entirely within your own Google Drive, under your Google account. We do not have access to it, do not store it on our servers, and cannot read it.
- You can restore from the backup at any time by signing in again from the App.
What we access
The App requests only the minimum scope necessary for this feature:
drive.appdata— limited access to a hidden, app-specific folder that is only visible to My Snack Tracker. The App cannot see or modify any other files in your Google Drive.
The App does not request access to your full Drive, your Gmail, your contacts, or any other Google service.
Your control
- You can disconnect your Google account from the App's settings at any time, which stops further backups.
- You can delete the backup file by clearing the App's data in your Google Drive, or by removing My Snack Tracker from your account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Uninstalling the App does not automatically delete backup files stored in your Google Drive.
Use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the third-party services listed in section 2.2, strictly for the purposes described in this policy. Some of these providers are based outside the European Economic Area; in such cases, transfers are made on the basis of the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or other safeguards required by law.
7. Data retention
- On-device data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
- Crashlytics and Analytics data is retained according to Google's defaults (typically up to 14 months for Analytics; up to 90 days for Crashlytics).
- Advertising data is retained according to Google AdMob policies.
- Purchase data is retained by RevenueCat and the relevant app store for as long as required to manage your entitlement and meet legal obligations.
8. Your rights
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar laws, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Request rectification or deletion of your personal data;
- Restrict or object to certain processing;
- Withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent);
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Slovakia, this is the Office for Personal Data Protection (dataprotection.gov.sk).
Because we do not collect direct identifiers such as your name or email, we may not always be able to identify you in the limited data processed by our third-party providers. You can typically exercise most of your rights directly in the App (by deleting your data) or in your device settings (by resetting your advertising ID).
To exercise any of these rights regarding data we control, contact us at the email below.
9. Children
My Snack Tracker is intended for users aged 13 and older. The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly process personal data of children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the App in a way that resulted in data being processed, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
10. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data processed in connection with the App. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in our App, the services we use, or applicable law. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated through the App or on this page before they take effect.
